Plano West fights off a late surge by Marcus to take a 70-64 victory

Consistency powered Plano West through a victory over Marcus High School on January 27.

Shots dropped for the Wolves for the entire length of the game. West started the game off with a 15-11 first quarter and both teams doubled their scores in the second, making a 30-22 halftime score.

Both teams upped their play in the second half, Plano scoring 20 in the third and Marcus adding 16. Then in the final quarter, Plano West scored another 20 and the Marauders marked 26 points, gaining some ground on the Wolves, but failing to catch up before the final whistle. Plano West walked away with a well deserved 70-64 victory.

Senior center Tyler Davis led the Wolves with an incredible performance, scoring 25 points, reeling in 20 rebounds, and blocking five shots. Mickey Mitchell also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds to accompany his seven assists. DJ Hogg contributed 13 points and five assists.

This win puts Plano West at 21-2 on the season, placing them at 26^th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings and 1^st in Texas. See the Wolves next face off against Lewisville on January 30.
